Mary washes the feet of Jesus. Judas betrays his teacher
Welcome to Spy Wednesday. We start the day with Mary, sister of Lazarus and Martha, washing Jesus' feet with some really expensive perfume she had kept for just the right occasion. Also, we see where the door opens for Judas to betray Jesus. As we read through this day in the Bible, it is really easy to criticize Judas' character. Judas was selfish, and prideful, and sought success no matter the cost - including turning his back on Jesus. The enemy is constantly scheming to steer you away from Jesus, as he did for Judas. The enemy played to Judas' worldly desires and ambitions. Don't you think the enemy would do the same to you? This is spiritual warfare. This is a battlefield. And instead of playing defense, let us play offense by learning to combat the enemy.
Today, our call to action is to ask ourselves: are we seeking worldly desires for personal gain or for selfish ambition? Or are we seeking eternal life through Jesus? Let's check our hearts and prepare for Maundy Thursday.
